The Hunza - A pluralistic society

Hunza - a pluralistic society

Brusho, Shen, Guicho

We (Hunza residents) have always been taught at the highest level that pluralism is a strength, and we believe in it. Because pluralistic societies have a lot of potential if used positively. But if these abilities are used negatively, it can also be a major obstacle to development.

This is also evident in many of Hunzai educated people and it is largely based on the tribal system of the past and (the injustices of the monarchy).

There is no doubt that for various reasons, its existence in Hunza, like many other societies in the world, was inevitable in the old tribal societies of the past. This does not mean that people should not lovingly remember their ancestral identity as their heritage, but that old enmities and injustices of the past should be taken only as the history of the past and now we should be enlightened. Hearts and minds should start looking at each other.

Sports

To me, it doesn't matter how good you are. Sport is all about playing and competing. Whatever you do in football and in sport, enjoy it, be positive and try to win. Ian Botham

The kingdom

Our ambition should be to rule ourselves, the true kingdom for each one of us; and true progress is to know more, and be more, and to do more. Oscar Wilde

Natural Beauty of Hunza Valley

The destruction of the natural beauty, the ecosystems, and the majesty of mountains affect us in ways we're not even aware of. Every time a mountain is beheaded, we chop off a little part of our souls. Gloria Reuben

The Natural Beauty

I'm obsessed with the countryside: woods, forests, fields, lakes, mountains. I'm really into folk music and folklore. But more so I'm into electronic music. I'm into bands that have both aspects, like Boards of Canada is a perfect example. You could listen to that type of music running through a woods. It's kind of what I wanted to achieve. Shangri La - Paradise on Earth

The peaceful and romantic place on earth - Hunza Valley, The Shangri La.
Welcome to Hunza Valley

Hunza Valley is a treasure to know more.

Hunza was formerly a princely state bordering Uyghurstan also called Xinjiang (autonomous region of China) to the north-east and Pamir to the Northwest, which survived until 1974, when it was finally dissolved by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The state bordered the Gilgit Agency to the south and the former princely state of Nagar to the east. The state capital was the town of Baltit (also known as Karimabad); another old settlement is Ganish Village. Hunza was an independent principality for more than 900 years. The British gained control of Hunza and the neighbouring valley of Nagar between 1889 and 1892 through a military conquest. The then Mir/Tham (ruler) Mir Safdar Ali Khan of Hunza fled to Kashghar in China and sought what would now be called political asylum.
