Darvesh Karim

Introduction:

Queen Victoria MonumentKarimabad is a small town located in the mountainous area of Hunza in Gilgit-Baltistan. The area is known for its stunning natural beauty, including the famous Rakaposhi mountain, and its rich cultural heritage. The region has a lot of potential as a touristic spot, but currently lacks the infrastructure and amenities necessary to attract and accommodate large numbers of tourists. This proposal aims to present a plan for the development of a touristic spot in Karimabad to promote tourism in the region.

Karimabad is situated in the Hunza Valley which is surrounded by the world's second-highest mountain range, the Karakoram. The area is known for its glaciers, alpine meadows, and beautiful lakes. The town of Karimabad is also home to several historical and cultural landmarks, such as the Altit Fort and Baltit Fort, which date back to the 8th century. However, despite its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, the area is currently not well developed for tourism, which limits its potential as a touristic spot.

Objectives:

The project will be divided into several phases:

Site selection and planning: The project team will conduct a feasibility study to determine the best location for the touristic spot. The study will consider factors such as accessibility, natural beauty, and cultural significance.

Infrastructure development: Once the location has been selected, the project team will develop the necessary infrastructure to accommodate visitors. This will include the construction of roads, parking areas, and facilities such as restrooms and picnic areas.

Amenities development: To attract visitors, the project team will develop amenities such as visitor centers, restaurants, and shops. These facilities will be designed to blend in with the natural environment and to promote the area's cultural heritage.

Promotion and marketing: To attract visitors, the project team will develop a marketing plan to promote the touristic spot. This will include advertising, public relations, and partnerships with travel agencies and tour operators.

Expected Outcomes:

·       Increased number of visitors to the area.

·       Creation of job opportunities in the region.

·       Increased revenue for the local economy through tourism.

·       Preservation and promotion of the area's natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Budget:

The budget for the development of a touristic spot in Karimabad, Hunza would depend on the specific plans and scope of the project. However, some of the key expenses that would need to be considered in the budget include:

·       Site selection and planning: This would include costs for conducting a feasibility study, surveying the land, and creating detailed plans and designs for the touristic spot.

·       Infrastructure development: This would include costs for building roads, parking areas, and facilities such as restrooms and picnic areas.

·       Amenities development: This would include costs for building visitor centers, restaurants, and shops.

·       Promotion and marketing: This would include costs for advertising, public relations, and partnerships with travel agencies and tour operators.

·       Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study: This would include costs for conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment study to ensure the sustainable development of the area, and avoid any negative impacts on the local environment.

The Hunza - A pluralistic society

Hunza - a pluralistic society

Brusho, Shen, Guicho

We (Hunza residents) have always been taught at the highest level that pluralism is a strength, and we believe in it. Because pluralistic societies have a lot of potential if used positively. But if these abilities are used negatively, it can also be a major obstacle to development.

This is also evident in many of Hunzai educated people and it is largely based on the tribal system of the past and (the injustices of the monarchy).

There is no doubt that for various reasons, its existence in Hunza, like many other societies in the world, was inevitable in the old tribal societies of the past. This does not mean that people should not lovingly remember their ancestral identity as their heritage, but that old enmities and injustices of the past should be taken only as the history of the past and now we should be enlightened. Hearts and minds should start looking at each other.
